Complete Roofline Protection for Your Home

Your gutters, fascias, and soffits form the roofline system — the critical junction between your roof and walls. This system channels rainwater safely away from your property, ventilates your roof space, and protects exposed timber from weather damage. When any part of this system fails, the consequences are expensive and far-reaching.

At Topnotch Roofing & Property Maintenance Ltd, we supply and install complete roofline systems using high-quality uPVC and aluminium components. uPVC is the most popular choice for residential properties — it's weather-resistant, maintenance-free, and available in a range of colours and styles. Aluminium is the premium option, offering superior durability and a sleek, modern finish.

Our service covers the full roofline: fascia boards (the vertical boards behind the gutter), soffit boards (the horizontal boards beneath the roof overhang), guttering (half-round, square, and ogee profiles), and downpipes. We remove old timber fascias and soffits, check and repair any rotten rafter feet, and install a clean, weatherproof system that requires no painting and resists UV degradation.

We work with homeowners across Gloucestershire — including Cheltenham, Gloucester, Swindon, Cirencester, Stroud, and Tetbury. Whether your existing roofline is showing signs of rot, peeling paint, or blocked gutters, we'll assess the condition and provide a clear quote for replacement.

    Don't Ignore the Warning Signs

What Happens When Your Roofline Fails

    Overflowing Gutters

Cracked, sagging, or blocked gutters overflow during rainfall. Water cascading down your walls causes damp penetration, staining, and eventually structural damage to masonry and render.

    Rotten Fascia Boards

Timber fascias absorb moisture over time, causing rot that spreads to rafter feet and roof timbers. By the time you notice peeling paint, the damage beneath is often severe.

    Bird & Pest Nesting

Gaps in deteriorated soffits give birds, wasps, and squirrels direct access to your roof space. Nesting materials block ventilation and can damage wiring and insulation.

    Roof Space Condensation

Soffits provide essential ventilation to your roof space. Blocked or damaged soffits trap moisture, leading to condensation that rots timbers and degrades insulation from within.

    Foundation Damage

When gutters fail, rainwater pools at the base of your walls instead of flowing to drains. This saturates foundations, causes subsidence risk, and creates damp problems in ground-floor rooms.

    Kerb Appeal & Property Value

Visibly deteriorated fascias, peeling paint, and sagging gutters signal neglect. This reduces buyer confidence and can lower your property's market value at the point of sale.

    Why It Matters

    Why Homeowners Upgrade Their Roofline

    Complete Water Management

New gutters, fascias, and soffits work together to channel every drop of rainwater safely away from your property — walls, foundations, and roof space.

    Zero Maintenance

uPVC fascias and soffits never need painting, won't rot, and resist UV discolouration. They look fresh for decades without any upkeep.

    Fast Installation

Most residential roofline replacements are completed in 1–2 days. There's minimal disruption and no wet trades — the system is mechanically fixed, not glued.

    Prevents Expensive Damage

Replacing your roofline system now prevents water damage to walls, foundations, and roof timbers that would cost thousands to repair later.

    Improved Roof Ventilation

Ventilated soffits ensure your roof space receives the airflow it needs to prevent condensation, protecting timbers and insulation year-round.

    Instant Kerb Appeal

New fascias and guttering transform the appearance of your property. The clean, crisp lines of a new roofline system make the entire house look refreshed.

    In-Depth Guide

    Understanding Fascias, Soffits & Guttering

    Fascia Boards Explained

Fascia boards are the long, straight boards that run along the lower edge of your roof, directly behind the gutter. They serve two functions: supporting the bottom row of tiles and providing a mounting surface for the gutter system. Traditional timber fascias require regular painting and are prone to rot. uPVC fascia boards eliminate this maintenance entirely — they're available in white, black, anthracite grey, and woodgrain finishes that maintain their appearance without any treatment. We install 18mm uPVC fascia boards as standard, which provide excellent structural support and weather resistance.

    Soffit Boards & Ventilation

Soffits are the horizontal boards that fill the gap between the fascia and the wall beneath the roof overhang. They protect rafter ends from the weather and provide critical ventilation to the roof space. We install ventilated soffits that incorporate discreet airflow slots, allowing moisture-laden air to escape from the loft while preventing pest ingress. Solid soffits are available for areas where ventilation is provided by other means. Soffits are colour-matched to fascias for a clean, unified appearance.

    Gutter Profiles & Materials

We install guttering in three main profiles: half-round (the traditional curved shape), square (modern, high-capacity design), and ogee (a decorative profile with a period appearance). Each profile is available in various sizes to suit your property's roof area and rainfall exposure. uPVC guttering is the standard choice — it's lightweight, easy to maintain, and available in white, black, brown, and grey. For properties requiring a premium finish, we install aluminium and cast-effect systems that combine durability with traditional aesthetics.

    Downpipes & Drainage Connection

Downpipes carry collected rainwater from the gutter to ground-level drains. We install round and square downpipes to match your gutter profile, with proper brackets at maximum 1.8m centres for stability. Where existing drainage connections are inadequate, we can install new gully pots or connect to soakaway systems. Proper downpipe routing ensures water is directed away from the building — not pooling against foundations or overflowing onto pathways.

    Cladding & Bargeboards

As part of a complete roofline system, we also supply and install uPVC cladding for gable ends and bargeboards for roof verges. Bargeboards protect the exposed edges of the roof where it meets the gable wall. Like fascias, timber bargeboards rot and require painting. uPVC replacements eliminate this cycle entirely. Gable cladding covers the triangular area above the roofline at the gable end, providing weather protection and a clean finish.

    Rafter Foot Repairs

When we remove old timber fascias, we frequently find that the rafter feet (the ends of the rafters that project beyond the wall) have rotted. This is caused by decades of moisture exposure from failed fascias and blocked gutters. We cut back rotten timber to sound wood and splice in new treated timber or install rafter brackets to provide a solid fixing point for the new fascia boards. This structural repair is included as a standard part of our service — we never fit new boards onto rotten timber.
